India Community Center for the first time won this category. Anyone who watched the fun the kids and adults were having during Celebrate Milpitas! as they exposed others to the bustling center, would be convinced of this. Reader votes reaffirmed it.

The Green Thumb Garden Thumb, with members who have watched the city grow from mainly apricot orchards and open fields, to a bustling ethnic center, was voted an Honor Award winner.

Milpitas Moms and Tots are active and eager to provide new mothers with the support they need, and won another Honor Award. Close behind were the Friends of the Milpitas Library, for their book sales and all they do to help improve the local library. As far as service clubs, Milpitas Rotary was mentioned for all that it accomplishes here and abroad. The Milpitas Executive Lions Club and Milpitas Kiwanis Club also won votes, for Honor Awards, as did Milpitas Historical Society.
