Milpitas Mayor Jose Esteves won this category for the seventh year. The omni-present, community-minded mayor will be term-limited in 2008, so the local honor will shift to someone new next year. City council members Debbie Giordano, Bob Livengood and Althea Polanski were rated Honor Awards, as was Milpitas Board of Education member and active parent Mike Mendizabal.
