Global networking giant Cisco Systems Inc., Milpitas’ largest employer with more than 3,000 workers, accentuated its earlier award as Milpitas Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Corporate Citizen of the Year, to win Most Community Minded Company 2008 on the large scale. Its employees put their efforts and their wallets forth to help local causes, from school improvements on up.

LifeScan, maker of blood glucose monitoring equipment for diabetics, won for the first time in 2007, and returned as the Honor Award runner-up this year. Target was also mentioned, as was Nob Hill Foods.
